I spent the better part of my life working on electric guitars. I've owned and used every single soldering iron out there...from cheapo disposable Radio Shack units to $350 Ungar industrial units. The industry standard for a long time had been the blue Weller soldering station. I got turned onto this Xytronic unit a few years ago by a well respected guitar tech..."Dude- forget everything else- this is the best iron in the world" Pricey at $130 I bought a couple, and it changed my life!!
Glossy silver solder joints- the nichrome element heats up very, very fast and get's heat into the joint much faster than standard ceramic elements. Solder to the back of pots in a flash, solder to output jacks with no trouble- all of the tough Guitar-related tasks- simple due to this brilliant soldering iron.
It comes with everything you see. The adjustable power supply, from 1 watt to 60 Watts. The excellent slim iron as shown and a single pencil tip. For common guitar mods I prefer the 1/8" Chisel tip, for PC board work the Pencil tip is fine, for soldering to the back of pots and to the trem claw I like the big manly 3/16" chisel tip.
The stand has a water-free brass coil to keep your tip clean WITHOUT lowering the tip temperature- After all, what's a guitar player without a clean tip!
Even if you only work on guitars occasionally- this gun is worth it!
This fused, UL Listed iron should last you a lifetime with proper care, and makes guitar electronics a breeze! Sorry these are North America 110-120V compatible only.
